Chapter 7: Company Registration Process

We have come a little far. Well done to myself and my team. Now we need to submit all the required documents for Young Enterprise. Throughout this process we took our time to familiarise ourselves with the company registration process. Each member took its time to read through the documents thoroughly which encompassed the registration form, product approval form and HSBC bank account form. We also had to determine our director roles in the start-up team which were:

  1. Managing Director
  2. Finance Director
  3. Marketing Director
  4. Sales Director
  5. Operations Director

In determining the director roles we looked at each member’s strength complementing the role and distributed this accordingly. In the final registration process we had to arrange a meet up with some of the team members to attend our HSBC business account appointment.

At this stage communication was the key factor for effectively arranging a meeting suitable to the member’s lifestyle. I looked at Berlo’s SMCR Model of Communication by David Berlo’s (1960) to help me improve my communication skills. The Sender-Message-Channel-Receiver (SMCR) model of communication affects factors of individual communication mechanisms for a more well-organised communication as shown in figure 2 below. This model distillates on encoding and decoding four main features describing the communication process applicable to YOBBAFIC. The content message ought to have non-verbal structures to convey the message. These channels requires the human five senses. On the other hand it can be for the use of technical devices e.g. telephone from both the sender and receiver.

My takeaways are:

  1. Excellent communication within a group is vital for a successful organisation and structure.
  2. Any involving documents should be well understood by each member and agreed upon.
  3. Use the help of theoretical models to assist with communication skills improvements.

In the future as an entrepreneur this will help me stay organised, well informed of bureaucratically processes and use theoretical approaches to improve skill deficits such as communication.
